Jen Marder, a member of Wrenn Rescues, stumbled upon a plea from shelter networkers seeking a foster home for a feline family.

Although Jen already had her hands full with other foster cats, she shared the post within the rescue community, confident that someone would step forward to help. “They were absolutely adorable. I was certain that someone would come forward,”

However, as weeks passed and her current fosters found their forever homes, Jen noticed that the family of five cats was still languishing at the shelter. Unable to ignore their plight any longer, she made the decision to step in and offer them a safe haven.

The mother cat and her kittens were severely undernourished and malnourished, battling different stages of upper respiratory infections. Among the litter was a runt named Clock, significantly smaller than her siblings, named Hickory, Dickory, and Dock.

“When they first arrived, I was taken aback by their condition. They were in an incredibly dire state. The kittens were between 6 and 8 weeks old, yet Clock weighed no more than a 3-week-old kitten,” Jen expressed.

The petite mother cat, Goose, was approximately one year old and weighed a mere 5.4 pounds. “Despite all that she had endured, she is a gentle and affectionate girl who loves rubbing against me and snuggling up by my leg,” Jen shared.

“I was genuinely worriedaout Clock, being the smallest of the litter. I feared she might not survive. But she had an indomitable spirit, and I was determined not to give up on her.”
