Claude, a dog, was discovered wandering the streets of Chicago’s Side with injuries that had been inflicted over an extended period. A Lyft driver came across him and stopped to check on him. Claude was in a bad way, with bite marks all over his body and a shaved back. The driver approached him with caution and touched him gently.
In a composed manner, she lifted him with care and transported him to her vehicle. She decided to cancel her plans for the remainder of the evening to provide medical attention to his injuries by cleaning and bandaging them at home. The following day, she immediately began to contact various animal rescue organizations and veterinary clinics. However, since it was a holiday weekend, she was unable to successfully reach anyone until Tuesday.
Even though she proposed to take care of Claude while he recuperated, there wasn’t a shelter that was willing or capable of admitting him unless they euthanized him humanely. She became very emotional and cried on the phone, and one shelter arranged for her to obtain antibiotics for him. But it wasn’t sufficient since his head and face started swelling, and he lost his appetite.
After much searching, a buddy connected us with Wright-Way Rescue, and we welcomed the pup into our care without delay. He was in a terrible state, reeling from infection and dehydration, with bite marks all over his body. Our brave little fighter underwent surgery, receiving more than fifty sutures – some even inside his mouth where his gums had been punctured. While he’s on the mend, his recovery is still uncertain.
Our team of veterinarians is closely monitoring Claude and administering multiple daily treatments while syringe feeding him since he still lacks appetite. Our utmost priority is to give him a new lease of life. The good news is that Claude is doing well! He is content and enjoying life to the fullest. We appreciate the love and support we have received thus far. Claude is now a healthy, energetic boy with a strong will to play all day long!
