The tale of this mama canine really tugged at our heartstrings. She was just a mere pup when her pack was attacked by bigger dogs. Sadly, all but her perished and she herself lost a limb in the skirmish. Thankfully, a group of compassionate individuals built her a safe haven to live in, where she grew into an adult and birthed her own pups. However, this sanctuary was situated in a bustling business area where many hazardous vehicles came and went, making it a perilous environment. Despite her precarious situation, she managed to survive thanks to the kindness of strangers who provided her with sustenance.
Upon encountering me, a stranger, the puppies displayed an eagerness to interact with me. Little did they know that our meeting would have a significant impact on their future. The mother dog whom I named Naida, showed exceptional care for her chubby puppies by ensuring they received the best possible care.
After undergoing examinations, all of the puppies passed with flying colors. However, during the testing process, they were very emotional and cried out for Naida, their mother. Naida, who is undersized at only 7.8 kg, is currently suffering from exhaustion and mastitis, as well as a parasitic infection known as piroplasmosis. The puppies were given vaccinations and deworming treatments before being separated from their mothers. They will be taken care of until they are placed in new homes.
The new surroundings were completely unknown to them. They now had access to a more cozy sleeping area and had made some fresh friends. The chow served here was especially enjoyable for them. Naida missed her adorable little pups dearly. We had scheduled a meeting with them, but due to her taking antibiotics, she was not allowed to nurse them.
After a long time, she finally felt content and at ease. The grime and dirtiness that had clung to her fur and skin were washed away in two rejuvenating showers. Her curly fur was now smooth and shiny, and her previously dry skin now seemed hydrated and healthy. She was excited to play with the puppies alongside her.
A month later, we took Naida back home from the vet, and it was evident that she was fit and healthy again. Some of the puppies had found their forever homes and were enjoying their newfound happiness. They were being taken care of and loved. However, Naida remained with us, and I made sure to look after her well, as it seemed that nobody wanted to adopt a three-legged dog like her.
My furry friend has an amazing group of buddies here, and they all have a great time together. The vast fields provide endless opportunities for her to frolic and play all day long. It’s truly a dream come true for any dog. Plus, with proper nutrition, she has gained some much-needed weight and can keep up with most other dogs when it comes to running. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as these simple pleasures in life.
