The Central Falls Police Department and its neighboring community are in mourning as they bid farewell to their beloved retired K9 Axel. He was a remarkable worker and an exceptional companion to his handler, officer Dicristoforo, who pays tribute to him.
The connection between the two was more than just professional, as they developed a close relationship over time. Upon reaching the age of retirement, Axel’s caretakers decided to take him home and give him a comfortable life as a beloved pet for five years.
The connection between a K9 Police and its partner is unbreakable, even after death. Despite not being physically present with Officer Decristoforo anymore, K9 Axel will always be watching over him and making sure he completes his shifts safely, just like he did when they were working together.
According to a friend of mine on the Friends of Central Falls Animals Facebook page, the main goal is to ensure safety on the streets.
“I want him to understand that he has given Axel an extraordinary life and an unbreakable bond of friendship,” he said with a sense of satisfaction. “Their companionship was one of a kind, and I’m certain Axl will always be there for him. Axl, my dear, I love you more than you love yourself. That is exactly the kind of dog you were – loyal and devoted to your master. Now, it’s time for you to be strong for him. Remember that he wouldn’t want to see you upset!”
We send our condolences to Officer Dicristoforo as he goes through this tough time. May Axel find eternal peace.
