Amanda generously donates her time to a feline shelter that caters to homeless cats. One day, she encountered a peculiar cat that caught her attention. The story goes like this: A cardboard box, drenched from the rain, was delivered to the Broward County shelter. Inside, there was a young feline mother and four tiny kittens.
There were four cute little kittens, three of which were pretty typical and fluffy, but the fourth had a distinctive look and reminded us of a Devon Rex feline. This particular kitten resembled more of a stuffed animal than a real cat.
A lovely woman named Amanda decided to adopt the whole litter of kittens, including the peculiar one, which she named Meesiks. The kitty quickly formed a strong bond with Amanda, and she felt the same way about him.
However, the situation wasn’t entirely positive. After conducting some tests, it was discovered that all of the adorable little babies were infected with distemper, better known as panleukopenia. This viral disease can be particularly lethal for kittens as young as these, often leading to a high mortality rate. Despite this daunting challenge, Amanda refused to give up on her furry friend and his siblings, vowing to do everything in her power to save them.
Amanda devoted a whole week to taking care of the kittens, without getting any sleep. Her dedication helped all the kittens survive and start recovering. However, Meesiks had additional health issues that Amanda decided to keep to herself. Fortunately, this choice gave the kitten another opportunity for life with a caring owner. Thanks to Amanda’s efforts, Meesiks was given a second chance at life.
