Shotzie, the cat who belongs to Brandy Miller’s family, is not known for being a hero. Despite being 11 years old, Shotzie has never displayed any heroic behavior. In fact, Brandy always thought of her as a loner. According to Brandy, Shotzie is not the most popular feline around. She tends to keep to herself and only wants to be around Brandy’s mother and stepfather, Kirk. When anyone else comes around, she typically hides away. If Brandy or her sisters get too close to her, she’ll start hissing. It’s clear that Shotzie simply doesn’t care about Brandy or her siblings.

On March 2, Kirk Mathis, who was Brandy’s stepfather, passed away due to a heart attack at the house he shared with Brandy’s mother, Tammy. Brandy shared that her stepfather was preparing for work and had just finished feeding their pet, Shotzie. Unfortunately, he suffered a severe heart attack and fell backward to the ground just before leaving for work.

In Brandy’s account, she described how Shotzie jumped onto the bed, wriggled on his blanket, and startled her mother awake with a loud roar. Her mother claimed that the noise was as loud as that of a mountain lion and that it took a very deep growl to wake her up. Tammy was worried because Shotzie had never made such a sound before. She found Kirk lying on the floor and quickly began performing CPR. Unfortunately, there was no response from Kirk, so Tammy called the fire department who had to shock her three times before getting a heartbeat.

Thanks to Shotzie, Kirk arrived at the hospital in the nick of time and the medical team was able to rescue him and stabilize his condition. He has now returned home with Shotzie remaining at his side, as Brandy revealed. Kirk is set to undergo surgery soon and in the meantime, Shotzie is calling the shots. Brandy explained that even when she steps away to use the restroom, Shotzie never takes her eyes off Kirk and won’t let him out of her sight.

Brandy shared that Kirk is grateful towards Shotzie and intends to express his appreciation towards her. Shotzie’s actions have left a lasting impact on Kirk. Brandy also mentioned that her perception of Shotzie has significantly changed, and both she and Kirk are thankful to have her in their lives. Furthermore, she added that Shotzie’s bond with Kirk is strengthening, and they have stopped referring to her as the ‘nasty cat.’
