Despite his inability to jump, the kitten puts on a daily show of confidence and pride, thanks to the person who gave him a second chance at life.
At Chatons Orphelins Montreal, a trio of kittens was rescued from an overcrowded situation. Amongst them was Babar, a long-haired cream kitten with mobility issues and a severe respiratory infection that left him frail and skinny. Out of the three, he was the smallest and weakest, but that didn’t stop him from seeking out love and attention from humans. Babar just wanted to be adored, and he finally had a chance at a better life thanks to the rescue’s intervention.
ChatonsOrphelins Montreal took in Babar, who had difficulty breathing and received immediate treatment with antibiotics. Despite numerous trips to the vet and careful attention, he suffered from a persistent URI. Babar’s mobility was also affected as he couldn’t run or jump, but he was able to walk around with slow steps. Although his coordination wasn’t the best, he always made an effort to take each stride carefully.
According to ChatonsOrphelins Montreal, Babar suffers from feline myotonia – a neuromuscular illness that affects muscle movement. This rare condition causes the muscles to take more time to relax after each contraction. As a result, Babar is unable to use his hind legs to jump or kick and has difficulty getting on and off the couch unassisted. However, he can still walk on the floor without any problems.
At ChatonsOrphelins Montreal, Babar was a delightful and affectionate foster cat. His favorite thing to do while on walks was to pause and request some head scratches from his human companions. Although his walking style was a bit unsteady and reminiscent of a penguin’s waddle, he could easily be assisted with a ramp to reach windows or with some help to navigate the couch.
ChatonsOrphelins Montreal shared that Babar has become livelier and more mischievous since he gained his strength. He enjoys strolling around, perfecting his strut, and even follows other cats in the house. Despite being small and having a unique way of walking, these traits only add to his charm and make him even more lovable.
Babar, the feline resident of ChatonsOrphelins Montreal, is currently learning how to walk with his human companions. Despite being a champion napper, he embodies the wisdom of an older cat. Sleeping comes naturally to him, and he is an expert at it. Although his reflexes may be a bit sluggish, that doesn’t bother anyone. Babar prefers to be brushed rather than self-groom, and he has a tendency to doze off with his mouth open when held in the arms of his caretakers.
Babar is a cat who loves to sleep more than anything else. He may have difficulty jumping or running due to his hind legs, but he is an intelligent creature who finds a way to get wherever he wants. Babar prefers to move at his own pace and take in everything around him. He is fond of the company of other felines, who encourage him to remain active. Although he enjoys playing with feather toys, nothing beats the pleasure of basking in the sun or observing the world go by.
Babar is a feline who has an insatiable love for his fellow cats. He seems to have an unstoppable zest for life and all its wonders. When it was time for Babar to find his forever home, the caring folks at ChatonsOrphelins Montreal embarked on a mission to locate a family that would cherish him and provide him with all the care he deserved. Finally, after almost four months, Babar’s wish was fulfilled, and he found a loving home to call his own.
