At The Best Cat Page, we came across an interesting tale that we’d like to share with our community. Introducing Nadia!
According to Viktor from Viktor Larkhill Extreme Rescue, the exact cause of Nadia’s injuries is unknown. However, what is known is that the little tortoiseshell cat roamed the streets for several days in search of a secure place to hide and care for her wounds. Sadly, some of her wounds are irreparable. Nadia endured a severely damaged leg that was infected with gangrene, which had fractures in three separate parts of the bone. This condition posed a severe threat to her system due to septic infection. Additionally, Nadia experienced a dislocated shoulder whose nerves were stretched and torn.
Nadia had been hiding under cars and desperately searching for food for days. Her condition was dire, suffering from dehydration and malnutrition. Despite her efforts, she hadn’t been able to secure any sustenance. Fortunately, someone reached out to Viktor and his team for assistance. They knew that Nadia needed a miracle if she was going to survive. They were determined to help her, knowing that her chances of making it on the streets were slim to none.
Upon Nadia’s arrival, she was unresponsive and her body was shutting down, which made it challenging to administer fluids. Our team had to resort to a blood transfusion to help her survive through the night. Gradually, Nadia is regaining her strength, but we need to stabilize her before proceeding with surgery. We are facing a tight window of 24 to 36 hours to stabilize her condition and perform the necessary operation. Unfortunately, due to the extent of the damage, we cannot consider a prosthetic solution and will have to amputate her leg at the shoulder level for her to survive.
According to Viktor, Nadia’s condition has shown signs of improvement this week. Her surgical wound is healing well and she is gradually adapting to walking with just three legs. We are grateful that this cute little cat is no longer stranded on the streets.
