Let’s take a moment to talk about Kate Hudson’s stunning Oscar de la Renta dress. We can’t help but gush over it, otherwise we’d be contradicting ourselves. For years, we’ve been complaining about unlined sheer gowns on the red carpet, but when someone shows up in a fully lined version, we have to give credit where credit is due. And Hudson’s dress definitely deserves recognition.

Although we must acknowledge the positive aspect of the gown, it is not particularly impressive. That being said, removing the lining would not enhance its appearance. Rather, adding several layers of sheer black lining instead of a “nude” one could improve it. However, the real issue with this look is not the dress itself, but rather the styling. The neckline of the dress would benefit from a choker or pendant. Moreover, the wet hair look does not work well in this context. With the minimal makeup and dress design in mind, it seems that the style team aimed for a soaking wet look, as if she emerged from a pool in her gown. While this approach might be effective in an editorial, on the red carpet, it just looks like she got caught in the rain.
