Thanks to Jess Thoren, a foster home volunteer in New Jersey, the eight kittens were able to upgrade their living conditions by being relocated to a nearby shelter. Thoren kindly took them into her home and looked after their welfare upon hearing their story.
One of the kittens in the litter caught Jess’s attention because it was small, tired-looking, and appeared to have no chance of survival due to its lack of strength. The volunteer who took care of the kittens shared his experience, saying, “I took care of the kittens when they were only a week old. Kelly, the smallest tabby, weighed a mere 84 grams. She looked extremely fragile.”
The tiny little kitten went by the name Kelly and was so small that she could fit comfortably in the palm of anyone’s hand. Her eyes were barely open, and she couldn’t feed herself, let alone being bottle-fed. This made her rely on tube-feeding for several weeks.
The cat’s condition was unstable, with two injuries that hindered its recovery. Luckily, Jess detected the wounds early on and administered an unconventional treatment that helped the feline recover from the hazardous situation. Amongst the litter of eight kittens, Kelly was the most fragile. While her siblings were growing rapidly, she continued to battle for survival.
As the weeks passed, the tiny feline transformed into a resilient warrior, determined to survive despite her limited resources. Her gradual progress filled her caretaker with joy and satisfaction.
With Jess’s help, Kelly started to have her meals, and she also took some rest. The injuries on her body started to heal slowly, and they were gradually becoming less visible.
During his recovery process, he was comforted by his feline sibling, a charming ginger cat named Zack, who was twice his size and became his loyal protector. Kelly, their adoptive parent, found joy in seeing the two furry companions snuggle and relax together. This endearing duo had formed a special bond with their owners and had completely won over their hearts.
Kelly went through some tough days, but she managed to overcome the danger she was in. Thanks to Jess’s hard work, Kelly gained 150 grams, which was a small accomplishment that brought her closer to her ultimate goal. Although all of her siblings were at least 100 grams bigger than her, Jess mentioned that it was still a significant achievement, and she was proud of Kelly.
The cute feline made amazing progress as she grew more lively and exhibited her charming character. She now ate autonomously and strolled at her own tempo. Although she remained tinier than her younger siblings, this did not deter her from investigating the small environment around her.
