An adorable 5-month-old puppy was discovered with “free” and “good home only” markings written in permanent ink on its fur. Luckily, the little pup has finally found a loving forever home.
As per the Ross County Humane Society, on the evening of May 24, officers were called to Yoctangee Park where they found a dog abandoned in a box. The dog was later taken to a humane society for evaluation and was named Marvella, which translates to “to marvel at a miracle.” After less than a week since being discovered, a family from the Chillicothe area adopted her on Wednesday. Jenn Thomas, director of the Ross County Humane Society, revealed that around 90 adoption applications were received from all over the United States for the pup.
The Ross County Humane Society recently shared a news release stating that Marvella, a dog found with permanent marker writings on her fur last May 24, has received proper care such as a thorough wash, inoculations, treats, and love. Marvella now enjoys playing at the shelter. The society’s director, Jenn Thomas, hopes that this incident will educate pet owners about the importance of not abandoning their pets when they can no longer provide for them. Thomas emphasizes how lucky dogs like Marvella are to have excellent programs to support them, unlike some free dogs given away on platforms like Craigslist, which may end up being used as bait dogs or subjected to medical testing or other unsuitable conditions.
